Volunteer!!
I love now that we are home schooling
we have the option to teach our kids what we want and deem important.
We can spend individual time with them everyday instead of having to
plan a date night with each child though we probably still will
because it's fun. Also we can do and go and learn together as a
family.
Something we want to incorporate into
our lives is volunteer work, helping others because it's the right
thing to do not because we are getting paid. Once a month we will
participate in some kind of volunteer work. We fully intend to
volunteer on our adventure through the states, we already have a
berry farm and possibly an alpaca farm to work on and I am sure there
will be many other opportunities that will arise that we cant imagine
at this point.
The start to this was today we talked
about where we can volunteer we came up with the animal shelter, food
bank and the library. We are still working on the list and would love
suggestions that a 6 and 9 year old can participate in.
Today we started at the Animal shelter
the boys were most excited about this idea of course being the animal
lovers that they are. We spent an hour filling toys with peanut
butter and dog food for them to get later at night. There was a
little housekeeping to do folding laundry and dishes. It is all very
simple but something they can do and can feel they had a part in
helping the animals. I am sure the boys will beg to go to the animal
shelter more. They were rewarded well by getting special play time
with two very cute kittens that are up for adoption.
Sweet kittens and cats up for adoption
Lots of dog toys ready for the dogs to enjoy
boys having fun with the kittens
TODAY WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY!
